What is Sodium benzoate?
Sodium benzoate is the sodium salt of benzoic acid. It is a white crystalline substance which is easily soluble in water. It can be produced by reacting sodium hydroxide with benzoic acid.
Sodium benzoate is widely used as a preservative (E211). Sodium benzoate is also used in fireworks.
